John Skinner, Son of William Skinner was born the 30th May 1822 at
Swan
Bridge Endland1. He grew to manhood in his
native land where he
was married to Jane Smith, who was the daughter of George Smith and
Anna
Bowden. They were marrid [married] about 1848 in England. Two This
union
was born Eight boy and five girls. Hyrum, George and Brigham H. were
born
in England. John Alexander was born aborde the ship while crossing the
Atlantic Ocean2. William Henry, Mary Jane,
Elizabeth Ann, Harriet Eiza,
Emily Eugene were born in New Yourk State where they lived for a number
of years. They moved from New Yourk to Providence Cach Co Utah, where
Joseph
Alma, James Albert, and Alice Amelia were born. They moved from
Providence
Utah to Nounan Bear Lake Co. Idaho where Nephi Arron [Aaron] was Born.
John Skinner was engaged in Farming and stock raising most of his life.
He and wife joined the Church the 21 May 1849 in England. All of their
children joined the Church, and were married in the Temple, except
James
Albert who died in his Infancy. They emigrated to New York in the year
1856 Where he was engaged in Farming. They moved from New York to
Providence
Cache Co Utah in the year 1868 or 69, where he was engaged in farming.
John Skinner was Endowed in the Endowment house House at Salt Lake City
5 Oct 1869, and they were sealed in the Logan Temple the 28th of Oct
189
[1891]. They had Nine of their children sealed to them the same day.
They
moved from Providence Cach Co Utah to Nounan bear Lake Co Idaho about
1875,
where he purchased or homesteaded a ranch of between two and three
hundred
acres. He engaged in ranching and Dairying. He had a cheese factory on
his ranch. He was presiding Elder of the Nounan Branch of the Church of
Jesus Christ for a number of years. He liked good Horses and was a good
feeder, He drove fine looking horses. He drove a team 16 miles to
Pristhood
Meeting an [and] he hardly ever missed a meeting. He was a faithful
member
of the church, and never asked any one to do any thing he would not do
himself. He was crippled up with Rhumatism a number of years. He died
at
the age of 77 the 27 of June 1899, Jane Smith Skinner died the 28 June
1914 at the age of 77 [actually 83].
